IMT simulation:

From August 2019 there is explicit requirement for simulation training in the IMT curriculum. This mandates the equivalent of 1 whole day per year of scenario based simulation. This is in addition to the skills lab training of core clinical skills.

For the August ’19 intake this requirement will be met by attending one of the full day courses organised by Dr Danielle Bagg. You will have received emails with details of dates and how to book.

Dates still outstanding are: 25th March and 24th June.

For August ’20 intake onwards (and for IMT 2 and above) there will be a different approach. We aim to have monthly simulation based education sessions running in each trust to meet the IMT 1 requirements. In addition to this there will be a series of “specialty” simulation days that will be open to IMT 2 (and above from August ’21). These days will be based around the following themes and will include a mix of scenarios and clinical skills as applicable:

  1. Palliative care/ End of life/ difficult communication
  2. Respiratory
  3. Cardiology
  4. Maternal medicine
  5. Step up to registrar

Further details on these courses will be available in due course and will be published here and will be emailed to all college tutors.
