We run regular simulation sessions as part of our Junior Doctors training program on both sites. These cover a range of topics and we often will use cases highlighted through our M&M or Clinical Governance process. Additionally, we offer regional Simwessex training days and have hosted the sedation and registrar ready courses.
There are different facilities available to our team at each hospital. In Winchester, we have a full simulation centre situated within the Education Centre. In Basingstoke, we have a dedicated ED Simulation room in the Lasham Unit, near to the department. Both departments have access to a full range of simulation equipment including two iSimulate units, training defibs, shocklink devices and mannequins. There’s even a birthing mannequin if you are particularly keen
Our simulation sessions are published on our training timetable. These are open for anyone to attend and we love to have a range of specialties and healthcare professionals involved. If you would like to help run sessions, disseminate learning, or anything else then get in touch! Our simulation lead is currently James Kerr who can be contacted at james.kerr@hhft.nhs.uk
